Last week, Mary J. Blige performed live at the American Music Awards. Ms. Blige is on the verge of releasing “The London Sessions,” this December. This is her 13th studio album release and she still sounds just as strong as she did when she first started some 25 years ago.

I had the opportunity to get a sneak peak of “The London Sessions”. While I will admit, I don’t have every Mary J. Blige album, whenever I hear her music; I immediately know that she is in the building. Her unique voice and style has transitioned throughout the years to one of empowerment and encouragement to so many.

“The London Sessions” has 12 tracks that are a mix of dance mix to soul riveting ballads.

Check out these 10 things you may not know about the making of “The London Sessions”.

The opening track “Therapy” is the song Ms. Blige performed live at the AMAs last week. I really like this track as it empowers us to take care of ourselves and our mental health. While I don’t know what her therapy is, at least she shares that we don’t have to be unhappy. We can receive help and there is nothing wrong with it.

Check out her AMA performance here.

Another track that I really believe will generate a buzz is titled “Whole Damn Year”. This track is raw Mary J Blige as she describes the pain of healing from an abusive relationship and trying to love again. I immediately thought of so many women who can relate to the lyrics of this song. Plus that unique grit of MJB always make the lyrics come alive.
A couple of get on the floor tracks include “Follow” and “Pick Me Up”. These are feel good tracks that make you simply want to move.

If you are an old school Mary J. Blige fan, this album will not disappoint.
