Gameband, Minecraft

When the opportunity became available to receive a Gameband Minecraft™, I jumped at the chance. I already have two tween sons who are obsessed with Minecraft and I wanted to win some additional cool points with them. I must say the Gameband Minecraft™ did not disappoint.

Target was our retailer of choice in purchasing the Gameband Minecraft™. At my Target store, I found it in the Mobile/Cloud Gaming area within the electronics section of the store. It’s a pretty cool device and comes in two sizes, small and large. We opted for the large and that was a good choice.

The guys were semi arguing on who would wear it, as it acts as a watch and has options to customize the Gameband LED display. But we couldn’t do anything with it until we registered it online. My oldest agreed to serve as the house spokesman for this post.

When we got home, the boys were anxious to get the process rolling. It was simple to plug the Gameband up through the USB on the desktop and transfer all of their worlds onto the Gameband.

The data transfer part did take a while because the guys have tons of worlds on the clunky desktop. I always enjoy watching them interact with their other friends on their Minecraft server as they build worlds with rollercoasters, catapults and fortresses. Minecraft is great in teaching STEM concepts and expanding their creativity. Now, with the Gameband, they can share their experiences with anyone through the USB connection. This was perfect as we were preparing for a quick weekend getaway for the holiday.

My son kept the Gameband on his wrist. He even slept in it. I reminded him that it is splash proof but not totally waterproof. It was cool to see the excitement.

Once we settled into our hotel room, the plug and play world building of Minecraft continued. As advertised, he was able to continue his magnificent creations on my laptop, which did not have Minecraft preloaded. Another great feature is the use of the cloud. Through cloud technology, the Gameband has the capability to backup all of the data stored on the Gameband. It’s good to know that if the Gameband is lost, all of their data can be restored on a replacement device.

Plus, my oldest son said Minecraft ran faster from the Gameband than on the desktop install at home.

When I heard them both say, “Mom, this was a cool gift!”

I said to myself, “Score.”
